In October, Rosie G.'s playMYmusic.FM continued to mine the global indie music scene to showcase the unknown, unsigned and unheard. Our Jazz Cafe artists were found in Cuba (Dayme Arocena, Japan (Toki Asako), and of course, the UK (Alfa Mist) with trumpeter Yelfris Valdes figuring in both the first and last locales. All mixed jazz with a little something extra, be it pop, hip hop or Afro Cuban traditions.
Our Two fer Tuesday features spanned continents and genres. Included were healthy doses of pop (half-alive ), psych pop (MorMor), psych synth pop (Foreign/National), and Latin dream pop (Empress of). Never content with just one form of Latin music, Rosie G. also presented Nicola Cruz and Systema Solar to the get dance party started as well as the soulful stylings of Juan Zelada. More soulful sounds could be heard from Iman Omari. Naturally we added some hip hop (Mista Silva) and even some gospel (Yebba) to the mix.
Rosie found great sounds from Columbia, Canada, Ecuador by way of France, Spain by way of the UK, Ghana by way of the UK (noticing a distinct theme here), Australia, and Arkansas! I'm lobbying hard for some Brazilian music to come soon. In the meantime, keep following us on social media and check back for more amazing indie bands, singers, producers, DJs and two new Featured Artists for November, all here at the Rosie G. spot.
