As we come to a close for the year, what a way to end our Jazz Cafe 2022 with this jazz-soul band from Denver, Colorado. Bttrfly Quintet features Grammy-nominated drummer Adam Deitch and Grammy-winning trumpeter Eric "Benny " Bloom who you may recognize as members of Lettuce. Their mix of music is jazz with a futuristic soul sound. It's definitely funky and you must give it a listen.
There have been plenty of bands that have members who are famous in their own right, for example, Cream and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. This band isn't any different but all these members together create an amazing sound. The members of this supergroup quintet include Dominic Lalli from Big Gigantic on saxophone, Borahmn Lee from Break Science on keyboards, Hunter Roberts also from Break Science on bass, Adam Deitch on drums, and Eric "Benny" Bloom on trumpet both from Lettuce. They released two singles before debuting their album Coast which is garnering critical acclaim from many jazz magazines and writers. Check out the song Marauders with its funky groove and amazing horn section. I can listen to this whole album for days and definitely on my jazz playlist.
