This past year there have been many great releases by jazz artists and this is one of them. Anthony Strong from Surrey, U.K. has released a new album that is such as pleasure to listen to. He studied music at the Royal Academy of Music and received his bachelor's degree in jazz piano from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has worked as a sideman for many artists including Michael Bolton, Jocelyn Brown, Charlotte Church, and others. His music is a mix of jazz and pop music and the blend is music to my ears. His voice reminds me of a mix of Harry Connick Jr. and Michael Mayo.
His songs run the gamut of beautiful love songs with great lyrics and his piano playing is dreamy.
He made his debut in 2009 with his album Guaranteed and since then has released two more albums and has appeared in commercials and tv shows. His remakes of such songs as On A Clear Day and a very interesting jazz remake of Michael Jackson's song Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, I admit I love them both and have added them to my jazz playlist. Anthony Strong just released his latest album Easy Sailing and is on tour through Europe. We hope he comes here to the States and plays some shows here in NYC.
