Terrace Martin

You may not have heard of this singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist but you have heard the songs he's produced. Terrace Martin from Los Angeles, California has been making the kind of music that melds hip-hop, jazz, and R&B. The sounds he creates are incredible and to see him live is an experience.

Many people may not know this but legendary comedian, Jay Leno bought him his first saxophone as a kid. How's that for a start to your career! Growing up music was the norm at home, his father was a jazz drummer and his mother was a singer. He started playing the piano by age 6 and by age 13 started producing his own tracks on a Casio. A child prodigy who caught the interest of Jay Leno who presented him with a scholarship and a saxophone. Since then he has gone on to produce for such artists as Snoop Dog, Kendrick Lamar, Stevie Wonder and has played with jazz artists, Kamsi Washington, Robert Glasper, and more. His musical influences are John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Jackie McLean as well as Dr. Dre, Pete Rock, and DJ Premier. He released his latest single this past April, Can't Let You Go, and the album, Velvet Portraits. Check out this talented musician, producer, and support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
