Samantha Fish

I haven't seen a woman play guitar like this artist in a very long time. Meet Samantha Fish from Kansas City, Missouri and she is fire on that guitar. She didn't take to the guitar right away as a child. She started out playing drums but then by age 15 she made the switch to guitar. Her dad played guitar with his friends and her mother was an instructor for the church choir.

Music runs in her veins for sure. Her musical influences are Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Ray Vaughn and it shows in how she plays her guitar. She has been categorized as a blues artist but Samantha Fish takes offense to that especially if you have seen her live. You are definitely going to hear blues music in her set but with some great rock and roll, some funk, and soul mixed in. She made her debut in 2009 with her live album, Live Bait and it caught the attention of some talent scouts. I will admit live this singer/guitarist is just amazing. She was signed to the indie German record label Rus Records in 2011. In 2012 she won the Blues Music Award for Best New Artist and has not stopped since. She has released 7 albums and has been on tour most of this year and will tour Europe next year. We expect new music next year and hope that she comes to New York City to play some gigs here. Definitely an artist I want to see live be sure to listen to her latest album Faster. Support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
