No Rome

London-based singer-songwriter Guendoline Rome Viray Gomez or professionally known as No Rome has caught the attention of another British singer, Charli XCX. Born in Manila, Philipines in a city that he felt was depressed, he decided to move to London and pursue his dreams. He started playing his music around town and found that people loved it, word spread and his popularity grew.

He says his musical influences can be eclectic and go from J Dilla to My Bloody Valentine to great pop melodies. No Rome says he makes gender-blind music so it doesn't have to be your traditional boy meets girl or marries girl type of music. It's for anyone who can relate to his lyrics about love or loss. Since he was a boy he grew up listening to the music his grandfather and his father played around the house, mostly Top 40 crossover, New Wave, and other old songs. He says they exposed him to good music. When asked about him choosing the stage name of No Rome, he explains that when he was first starting out in the music business many people told him No, Rome. They felt he should go into something else other than music. Earlier this year British singer-songwriter, Charli XCX announced that she was creating a "supergroup with No Rome and

The 1975 and released their song, Spinning this past May. How great is that for only 17! He made his debut in 2013 with the EP, Fantasy and since then has released three more EP's and last week released his debut album, It's All Smiles.
