Flamingods

Nowadays there is a serious interest in psychedelic rock. Its inception began in the 1960s with the flower power and love movements of that time. There was Norman Greenbaum's song, Spirit In The Sky, and others. Later in 1984, British band The Smiths released, How Soon Is Now which is still revered. Flamingods are another band that has been influenced by 50s and 60s music. Flamingods is a 4 piece alternative band from both London and Bahrain. The band's founder, Kamal Rasool who is from Bahrain traveled to many places and collected rare instruments, when he moved to London to study music he recruited his friends who moved from Bahrain to the U.K. as well. The band started playing together in 2010 and released their debut album, Sun in 2013.

They describe their music as exotic psychedelic because they mix not only psychedelic rock but also Eastern influences and Pop. Their musical influences were Les Baxter, Latin music legend, Tito Puente, Arthur Lyman, and others. The band made their debut at the SXSW festival in 2017 and last year released their latest album, Levitation. Check out this talented band and support independent music worldwide. Happy listening!
