Odesza

Odesza is an electronic pop duo out of Bellingham, Washington. It's consists of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight. The duo got together in 2012 after graduating from Western Washington University. They met in their freshman year and both were studying the opposite of music with Clayton studying physics and mathematics and Harrison studying graphic design. They began collaborating after meeting and befriending DJ Maul-IE. Clayton Knight is classically trained on the piano and later learned to play guitar. They took their band name from Harrison Mills's uncle's boat named Odessa but because that band name was already taken, they changed it to the Hungarian version adding the letter z. They released their debut album in September of 2010 and by December had performed their first live show, opening for Teen Daze and Beat Connection in their hometown. The duo has performed at many music festivals including Coachella, SXSW, Bonnaroo, Firefly, and Lollapalooza. The duo says that their goal is to help upcoming artists gain more exposure by releasing one-off singles. In 2015 they launched their official mobile app on iOS and Android. Odesza has had thirty-one of their tracks go to #1 on Hype Machine. In 2017 they were nominated for a Grammy award for the song, Line of Sight. They have released several albums and just released their latest in August titled, Bronson. Check out this fascinating electronic duo and support independent music. Happy listening!
