Thomas Heflin

Jazz trumpeter, Thomas Heflin from Tennessee has a very pleasing sound with beautiful compositions. He is a contemporary jazz artist mixing R&B into his arrangements. This rising star in the jazz world has been featured in such magazines as Italy's Jazz magazine, Jazz World, and many others. He says he has been heavily influenced by such jazz legends as Clifford Brown, Louis Armstrong, Woody Shaw, and Freddie Hubbard.

He made his debut in 2007 with the album, Symmetry and critics loved it. Listen to the track, Bemsha Swing with its beautiful piano solos and his smooth trumpet playing. Thomas Heflin says that "it's important to know the history of the music and to incorporate it into your playing because it gives you more depth." He is not only an accomplished musician, composer, and arranger but also an educator. He is the Assistant Professor of Jazz Brass at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has released three albums and just released his latest, Morning Star with its R&B smooth grooves that you definitely must listen to and check out. We hope he tours for this album and comes to NYC for some shows. Check out this super-talented trumpeter, composer, and educator, support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
