Led by composer/drummer Sam Gardner, Samadhi Quintet approaches jazz with elements of hip-hop beats as well as Indian and Latin American traditions. The Leeds College of Music graduate Gardner, who has also been part of the Wildflower Sextet, has connected with like-minded musicians to create a group mindful of the mathematics, consciousness, and the cosmos.
Samadhi is a level of consciousness achieved through meditation, which informs both the outlook and output of the band. Its debut EP, The Dance of Venus was released in 2015, and hailed by London Jazz News as “accomplished and richly inventive…” A long-awaited new track, "Re::Issued," was released earlier this year.
