The Teskey Brothers

The Teskey Brothers are a rhythm and blues band from Melbourne Australia. Formed in 2008 by brothers Josh ( guitar and vocals) and Sam Teskey (lead guitar) with bassist Brendon Love and drummer Liam Gough, the group is firmly ensconced in a Motown-era tradition they definitely do justice to, yet they also add some jazz and blues for good measure.

After years of relatively low-key gigs, the band finally got some traction when they recorded their debut album, Half Mile Harvest, in their home studio, later releasing it in 2017. Enthusiasm for the record sent it to Top 20 of Australia’s ARIA charts and number one on the Independent Album chart.

That success helped win them better gigs as well as publishing and label deals. In 2019, the band contributed several songs to the Palm Beach soundtrack, an Australian comedy, and released its follow-up, Run Home Slow. Critical reception has been positive, with the UK’s Evening Standard raving, “Their home-grown grooves have an uplifting quality that give even the loneliest of songs a nourishing warmth. For a blues album it leaves you feeling far from it.” The Teskey Brothers are in the midst or playing sold-out shows in Europe, but there are still tickets for US dates, so check their site for details.
