Belgium singer-songwriter, Tamino-Amir Moharam Fouad who goes by just Tamino had me asking
who is this singer when I heard his haunting new single, You Don't Own Me. Tamino grew up in Belgium and his parents are from Egypt. He is the grandson of a famous Egyptian singer and actor
Moharam Fouad. Tamino not only creates music but is also a model. Many say he looks like actor
Timothée Chalamet and I have to agree with that. He is classically trained vocally and studied at the Amsterdam Royal Conservatory. He has played many music festivals such as Rock En Seine, Rock Werchter and has been featured on Live Nation's Ones to Watch. He is being touted
as the Belgium Jeff Buckley. When you check out his music you can hear the influence of Radiohead on some of the songs and in his singing style. He even got to play with Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood in 2019 at the SXSW festival. Talk about having a dream come true.
Tamino released his debut album, Amir in 2018 and the BBC hailed it as "The New Sound of the Nile."Several songs on the album are an ode to his grandfather and it featured an Arab symphony
made up of musicians from both Iraq and Syria. He was nominated for 5 MIA awards in Belgium which would be the equivalent of a Grammy award. Tamino's music is a mix of alternative rock with some classical music and world music mixed in. He just released his latest album, Sahar past September and already he's gaining attention. Check out the song, Fascination with its beautiful
melodies. He is now on tour for the album and we hope he comes here to NYC to perform some
gigs. Check out this talented singer-songwriter and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
