Rose Gray

Who doesn't love to dance? I know I do and this artist caught my attention with her club pop songs. Rose Gray hails from London, U.K., and remembers seeing the Spice Girls film and being awestruck by them. She started singing at age 3 and remembers that music is where she felt most comfortable. She says she's always been a performer and loved acting as well. Her musical influences are Christina Aguilera, Lily Allen, and the great Amy Winehouse. She has also said that she dyed her hair red once because of Lady Kier of the group Deee-Lite. She made her debut with her mixtape, Dancing, Drinking, Talking, Thinking in 2021 to critical acclaim. This North Londoner mixes pop sounds with some underground music.

This singer-songwriter has been inspired by 90s music and you can hear that influence in her song Save Your Tears, the piano piece in the intro reminds me of George Michael's song Freedom. She credits her step-dad who she calls Pops for expanding her musical palette with such artists as Portishead, Radiohead, Massive Attack, and Moby. She made her EP debut in 2019 with Blue, Lately and has been going strong since. This year she released her latest Synchronicity and a new single called Promise Me. She says that's a nod to her favorite singer Donna Summer. We are awaiting news of a tour and hope she hits the States with some gigs. Check out his talented singer-songwriter and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
