Orion Sun

The music of this singer-songwriter is smooth like honey. Meet Tiffany Majette who is professionally known as Orion Sun. She was raised in Mount Laurel, New Jersey where life became difficult due to her sexuality. She grew up in a conservative Christian household and was kicked out because of her sexual preference. She identifies as a queer black woman but that didn't stop her from pursuing her dreams.

Since she grew up in the church the first music she heard was gospel music. She later relocated to Philadelphia where her life changed for the better. While there she got involved in the underground music movement called The Forest. Her music is a mix of R&B, jazz, and rock along with her smokey voiced delivery. Her delivery is smooth like silk and the songs just make you want to get a glass of wine and sit back and chill. I've been following Orion Sun for the past 7 years now. She made her debut in 2013 with a song she uploaded to YouTube called, Voicemail. Her mixtape titled, A Collection of Fleeting Moments and Daydreams was released in 2017 and got her name out there. Orion Sun is a triple threat who cannot only sing and rap but is a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Many of her songs deal with isolation and the injustices that she sees in the world. Check out the lyrics to her songs and you get an idea of some of her past struggles or what she sees going on in our world. She released her latest effort, Hold Space For Me last year, and a couple of weeks ago released her new single, Concrete. Check out this super-talented triple threat, you won't regret it. Support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
