Marcus Machado

I have been a fan of this guitarist for many years. Marcus Machado has been on the music scene for quite some time. Based in our hometown of Brooklyn, NY he has played with the best in R&B/Funk/Soul /Jazz artists out there. Since age 10 this super talented prodigy has toured the world and played with such luminaries as Buddy Miles, Ramsey Lewis, Robert Glasper and so many more. In 2016 Rolling Stone named him the "Next Young Gun" and they weren't wrong. To see him play reminds you of an eclectic Jimi Hendrix and his styles can rock you, make you feel the blues, feel that funk and beyond. He says his father was a musician and the guitar was always there and started playing by age 2. His earliest recollection of music was his Mom playing Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland album and picked up that guitar and has never put it down. If you have ever seen his performance in 2017 of the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden during an NBA game then you know about this electrifying guitarist. He has been inspired by Nile Rodgers, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Page, and others and is on constant musical elevation. His debut album in 2016, Live at Will's Pub was his introduction to the world and since then has released several singles and EP's. This past week he released his debut album, Aquarius Purple on Indie label, Soul Step Records and it's available on vinyl for those that are collectors. In listening to the tracks you can hear his ode to Prince, D'Angelo, and others.

This is one bad mutha on the guitar, be sure to see him live, you won't regret it. Support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
