Marcus King Band

You'd like to hear some blues? Well, I think I found one of the most talented young blues players around today and his name is Marcus King. The young guitarist, singer-songwriter, originates from Greenville, North Carolina, and is the lead singer and frontman for his namesake band. The band's music can go from hard Rockin Southern rock to some deep Blues licks that will knock your socks off. Marcus first picked up the guitar practically as a baby in diapers but was destined to be a musician because both his grandfather and father have been well-known musicians and guitarists in their own right. He started playing on stage with his dad at 8 and by his teens was playing gigs with his own band.

Marcus King and his bandmates describe their music as soul-influenced psychedelic Southern rock. Marcus says his musical influences were Duane Allman, co-founder of the Allman Brothers band, B.B. King, Albert King, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard. Marcus studied jazz theory and jazz performance at the Greenville Fine Arts Center. In 2015 the band released their debut album, Soul Insight, and this album caught the attention of Warren Haynes of Gov't Mule. He spread the news of the band's music and the band was signed to independent record label, Fantasy Records. Last year Marcus King announced his debut solo album, El Dorado which was released this past January. Check out this super talented guitarist, singer-songwriter, and his band. Support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
