Rising star Kandice Melonakos or better known as Lola Blanc is creating quite a stir on the music scene. This German-born singer-songwriter and triple threat has been making music since she was a child. But she is also an actress and director with quite a family background. She was born in Bavaria, Germany but then raised on a farm in Fremont, Michigan. She spent her childhood writing and performing. Her mom and brother would do a magic act and she performed as a ventriloquist.
As an actress she has appeared on the series, American Horror Story: Hotel, on Life In Pieces, and this year in the feature movie, Venus As a Boy. She has been photographed for fashion campaigns for Vera Wang and more. Music of course is what drives her but she has other outlets for her creative energies. She started writing songs by age 9 and says The Spice Girls were her favorite group back then. After seeing them perform she knew that she wanted to do what they do for a living. Along the way, she discovered punk rock, indie rock, and jazz and says her head exploded. Lola Blanc says her favorite artists are Fiona Apple, Ella Fitzgerald, and Tom Waits. She never imagined in a million years that she would write a song for Britney Spears but in 2013 that's exactly what happened. Her song Ooh La La reach #3 on the Billboard Next Big Sound chart by 2014. The song was a play on her name but soon well-known record producer Dr. Luke heard it and brought in J. Kash and Bonnie McGee to rewrite the song to fit Britney Spears. The rest is history and since then has released several EPs and singles. She just released her latest single, Here Come the Wolves.
