It's not often when a song catches my attention and takes my breath away but this singer-songwriter did just that. Meet Lizzy McAlpine from Philadelphia, PA, and at only 22 years old can write songs that really get to your soul. When I first heard her latest song, Doomsday I froze after hearing the first words to the song, "Pull the plug in September, I don't want to die in June'. The melody is beautiful and along with the orchestration, well it was just wow for me. She says she has been writing songs since 6th grade and when she got to high school she was part of the co-ed acapella group and did theater. She went on to attend Berklee College of Music to study songwriting but left in her junior year to pursue her music full-time. During the pandemic, all musicians found themselves without being able to play live venues so instead Lizzy McAlpine started doing live concerts at home. In 2018 she made her recording debut with her album, Indigo and when she was studying in Spain recorded her second album, Give Me A Minute, and released it last year to great acclaim. She has over a million views on her Instagram and millions of streams on her Spotify page. She has singer-songwriter, Sara Bareilles, praising her singing and songwriting ability. Lizzy McAlpine's music can best be described as folk-pop but it also has blends of jazz and R&B. She will be on tour starting in February and will be supporting English singer-songwriter, Dodie on February 24th at the Kings Theater here in Brooklyn, New York. Check out this exciting singer-songwriter and support independent music and musicians. Happy Listening!
