British singer-songwriter Freya Ridings leaped onto TV viewer’s radar in a big way when her song “Lost Without You’ was featured on the UK’s Love Island. Growing up in a creative family certainly paved the way for her rise. Her father is actor-musician Richard Ridings, and it was from him she initially learned to play guitar.
Her first single, Blackout,” was released in 2017, followed by a live album, Live at St Pancras Old Church, and the “Lost Without You” EP: came later that year. Ridings headlined her first tour as well as supporting acts like Tears for Fears, Lewis Capaldi, and Tash Sultana.
Most recently, she gathered her early singles and new material on her eponymous debut studio record in 2019. Earmilk noted the record is ‘a heartfelt musing on pain and vulnerability,” while the Standard applauded her “Haunting songs of longing and loss.”
The video for “You Mean the World to Me” was directed by Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey.
