Danny Keane

This exciting multi-instrumentalist has finally made his debut. His name, Danny Keane from London, U.K. has been playing for several years with some of the best in Jazz and with well-known world music musicians. He grew up in a musical family that spanned the arts from Ballet to Irish folk music, no wonder he became a musician, it was already in the genes. At 8 years old he started taking formal lessons on the cello but he felt he wanted to learn more because of the sounds he heard around him. He taught himself how to play both piano and saxophone, he loved to improvise which led him to jazz music. He naturally turned to composing and while studying to be a classically trained musician he put together his own projects trying out different styles and music genres.

He studied the cello at Trinity College of Music in London where he received the Silver Medal for string studies. After he graduated from school he continued playing both classical and chamber music but the love of jazz never dwindled. He started out on the jazz scene as a pianist and built quite a reputation for himself. He is a sought-out session musician who has played with country artist, Scott Matthews, Progressive Pop artist, Bat for Lashes and many others. He has also played with Ravi Shankar's daughter, Anoushka Shankar, The Heliocentrics, and Penguin Cafe. Danny Keane's music is a mix of not only jazz but African rhythms, Indian folk music, classical music, and dance beats. All of that musical gumbo creates some amazing sounds that you just can't help but move to the music. He made his solo debut this year with his album release, Roamin. Check out this super talented multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
