In searching for new rock bands I came across this Swedish metal band, Chaoseum from Lausanne, Switzerland. The founders of the band, Loric Durunz, and Valery Veings both of whom are guitarists and were part of a symphonic metal band named ELFERYA. Along with their lead singer, CK Smile, and drummer, Greg Turini this band has taken off like a rocket.
The band admits that their sound is not unique but presents their sound with an image that they say comes from watching movies. I will admit in hearing their song, Smile Again it reminded me of the legendary NuMetal band, Korn. Guitarist Valery Veings says they write music for the stage. They wanted people to take them seriously so they recorded their first album, First Step to Hell, and got a booking agency to book them for two music festivals in Europe. The well-known Soulfly festival here in the U.S. and Tarja in Russia. Their musical influences are such metal bands as Slipknot, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, and of course Korn. The band released their 2nd album, Second Life in September of last year and are set to tour starting this October throughout Europe. Check out this cool metal band and keep your eye out for them when they tour the U.S. again. Support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
