Beach Bunny is a kick-ass rock band from Chicago, Illinois that is so fun to listen to. The band consists of singer-songwriter/guitarist, Lili Trifilio, Jon Alvarado(drums), Matt Henkels (guitar), and Anthony Vacarro ( bass). Originally this started out as a solo project but soon Lili Trifilio decided to add musicians to bring her music to life.
The band formed in 2017 after Lili's 3rd EP, Cry Baby was released. She had been releasing music since 2015 and since then has released a new EP almost every year. Last year they released the single, Prom Queen which garnered critical acclaim for their portrayal of the standard of beauty that is unforgivable and punishing in our country, especially on social media. They became TikTok darlings and have a huge following after that song. The lyrics for their songs are honest and straightforward and very much full of angst. Thus the attraction to their young teenage fans who face a lot of what Lili Trifilio writes about. She has been compared to singers, Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries and Liz Phair. Some may think Beach Bunny makes beach rock type music when they hear their name but no it's more alternative than that. Check out songs, Good Girls(Don't Get Used) and, Blame Game, from their new album, released this past January. The band is on tour and next year will go on their European leg of the tour.
