BOJ

Afrobeat is all the rage these days and this singer-songwriter is one to watch. BOJ was born in London but lived in his parent's country of Nigeria. He is what they call an Alté singer-songwriter or rather alternative music singer of Afrobeats. This is a new genre coming out of Nigeria mixing several music genres from Afrobeats, pop, R&B and rap. BOJ, real name, Mobolaji Odojukan as a child was following his mother around and taking in all the sounds around him. Listening to the bongo sounds of Ikwe-enjoying the beats. He is also one-third of the group, DRB Las Gidi, and is a pioneer in this new genre that is Alté.

BOJ is different than most artists in the fact that he studied Business Management and Audio Engineering. He feels he has not accomplished anything and has much more to do but how many artists can say that at 28 years old they have had several releases since 2014. He grew up listening to Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Lagbaja. In 2014 he released his mixtape BOTM and started getting noticed. He followed it up in 2017 with the album, Magic and has released 2 more albums since then. He has credited such artists as Sean Paul, Wyclef, Bob Marley, and Lauryn Hill as his influences. This artist is not only a singer-songwriter but also a record producer. This past April he released his new album, Gbagada Express and it's already gaining attention around the world. Check out Indie Alté singer-songwriter BOJ and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
