In researching Jazz music I found that there are many sub-genres of Jazz, some I didn't even know existed. Jazz bassist Bernhard Meyer is an up and coming artist who mixes Jazz with what is now called NuJazz. Mixing traditional jazz sounds with electronic sounds. Bernhard Meyer was born in the town of Zug in Switzerland and like most musicians starting playing at a young age. He and his brother Peter who is also a guitarist play together in their band, Melt Trio.
Bernhard Meyer likes to mix different sounds and music genres from rock, electronica, and classical to create atmospheric sounds. The incredible sounds he creates on his semi-acoustic bass have been touted by such Jazz magazines as Jazziz, Downbeat and many others. He has traveled the world both as a soloist and with his band, Melt Trio. He has been nominated for the EchoJazz award three times. He has studied under the tutelage of jazz drummer, John Hollenbeck at the Jazz Institut in Berlin. The two have recorded an album together titled, Grids, which was released last year. Check out this talented jazz bassist and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
