THE JAZZ CAFE

by Rosie G.

February 25, 2024

If you love jazz and funk then you will love this band, Ghost Note from Dallas, Texas. The band features two members of the Indie jazz group Snarky Puppy, Robert “Sput” Searight on keyboards and drums, and percussionist Nate Werth.

The band features a rotation of musicians from Prince’s band, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock, and more creating some serious funky jazz grooves. Searight and Werth came up with the term “conscious funk” and have recorded two albums together as Ghost Note. They formed their band in 2014 while Snarky Puppy was on hiatus. Their music is percussion based and I can’t get enough of it. They just released their new single, “Bad Knees” a funky instrumental that will have you grooving in your seat. Their new album is set to be released on April 19th called Mustard N’ Onions and a tour will follow. Check them out live when they come to your city or town. Support indie music and musicians. Happy listening!
