Rapper, and singer-songwriter Michael Wayne Atha known as Yelawolf caught my attention with his new single. Its rhythm reminds me of sixties sounds but with a modern beat. Born in Alabama and raised in Tennessee, Yelawolf said that’s where hip-hop made sense to him culturally.

He came up with his stage name Yelawolf because his father is Cherokee, Yela means sun and wolf to describe the duality of light and dark. He started making mixtapes by 2005 that quickly caught the record industry's attention. He was signed to Interscope Records after releasing his debut EP Trunk Musik. Since then he released several albums and was signed to Eminem’s label at one point but decided later to start his own record label called Slumerican. He has been releasing his music independently and doing very well. He just released his new single, “Make You Love Me” which I love and on May 17th, will release his album War Story.
