TWOFER TUESDAY

by Rosie G.

November 21, 2023

English indie folk group The Staves had me fall in love with their music and their harmonies. The sisters, Emily, Camilla, and Jessica Staveley-Taylor learned to play guitar because of their dad. Their mom who was a school teacher encouraged them in their musical pursuits.

They started playing around town and performing at open mic nights at the pubs. They made their debut in 2012 with their EP Dead & Born & Grown and have toured extensively over the years. They were signed to Atlantic Records in 2015 and released If I Was to great acclaim. They have opened up for indie folk/experimental group Bon Iver and for Florence and the Machine. The sisters love to experiment and even sang with the chamber music ensemble yMusic. Since then their sister Emily has left the group wanting to spend more time with her daughter.

They are now a duo and will release their new album, All Now on March 22, 2024, on indie label Communion Records. We can’t wait for a tour and hope they play some gigs here in the U.S. Support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
