Teenage Wrist

TWOFER TUESDAY

Alternative rock band Teenage Wrist caught my attention with their latest single, “Sunshine.” The band consists of singer/guitarist, Marshall Gallagher, and drummer Anthony Salazar. The band’s sound is a reflection of their love for 90s grunge rock music.

The band got together in 2014 with former member Kamtin Mohager along with Gallagher and Salazar. Their inspiration they say stems from such bands as The Cure and Smashing Pumpkins. I definitely hear the Smashing Pumpkins' influence in their guitar sound. The duo also have outside projects that they work on but when together create great rock music. They made their debut in 2015 with their EP, Dazed, and followed it up with a live album, Live at Noise Coalition. They caught the attention of Indie record label Epitaph Records and were signed to a deal. Some bands might not survive the loss of a lead singer but that didn’t stop them and it invigorated them to create some great new music.

In 2018 they released Chrome Neon Jesus to critical acclaim and an album that I can’t stop playing on my playlist. It’s hard to pick a favorite song although “Supermachine” stands out as well as “Dweeb.”The band released a couple of more albums since then and last month released the single, “Sunshine” with its great guitar riffs and a new song just came out called, “Diorama.” I’m already loving both new tracks and I can’t wait for the new album and tour  Check out this talented duo and support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
