There is nothing that catches my attention more than great lyrics along with great music. Portuguese singer-songwriter Mariana Brito da Cruz Forjaz Secca or Maro as she is professionally known has a captivating style when singing that is almost hypnotic. She didn't start out wanting to be a musician, she studied to be a veterinarian but decided on a music career instead.

She moved to the U.S., attended the Berklee College of Music, and later settled in Los Angeles, California. She started posting YouTube videos of herself singing songs by artists such as Eric Clapton and Portuguese singers, Rossa Passos, Mayra Andrade, Salvador Sobral, and many others. Her following grew and she made her debut in 2018 with the albums Maro Vol 1, Maro Vol 2, and Maro Vol 3. In 2019 she collaborated with R&B singer-songwriter Jacob Collier on his album Djesse Vol 2. Maro was also featured on the single, “Better Now” by electronic music duo, Odesza which peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic charts. Maro has just been signed to Sony Entertainment and will release her album "Hortelã" in April and will tour beginning in April with one date here in Brooklyn, NY.
