I love discovering new singer-songwriters and Margaret Glaspy caught my attention with her new song. Her voice is amazing and reminds me of Alanis Morrisette at times. I can’t stop playing her new single, Get Back, no not a Beatles remake. The songwriting is refreshing and it's just good old-fashioned rock and roll.
Margaret Glaspy is now based here in New York but is originally from Sacramento, California. Music was already in her destiny when at age 9 she picked up the fiddle and started playing. When she got to high school she started playing guitar and trombone. She decided the guitar was her instrument of choice and she attended Berklee College of Music but dropped out after one semester. She moved to New York by the age of 21 to pursue her music career and it paid off. She made her debut in 2012 with the EP, Homeschool and a few years later released Emotions and Math on indie label ATO Records. My favorite album is Devotion which was released in 2020, check out the song “Killing What Keeps Us Alive.”
She just released her new album Echo The Diamond 4 days ago and I can’t stop listening to it. She is about to go on tour with a date here in NYC on October 20th at the Bowery Ballroom. Check out this talented singer-songwriter and support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
