We featured this talented and soulful singer and his band over four years ago. Marcus King is a man who knows the blues but also adds soulful stylings along the way. He learned how to play the blues from his Dad, Marvin King. His grandfather was also a well-known musician in South Carolina, music is in the genes.
Marcus King studied his favorite guitarists such as Duane Allman, B.B. King, Albert King, and more. Other than the blues he also studied jazz and went solo in 2020. He has released two albums since then and his new single, “F*ck My Life Up Again” has some beautiful instrumentation. The song has a Marvin Gaye feel to it, very soulful.
He describes his music as “Southern fried psychedelic honky tonk Rock n Roll sweet soul music.” His new album Mood Swings will be released on April 5th. He is now on tour and will play at The Beacon Theatre here in NYC on March 7th at the 8th Annual Love Rocks NYC show and at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on March 9th. Be sure to check him out when he comes to your city or town. Support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
