The trio Kerala Dust from London, U.K has a unique sound. They grew up listening to the Velvet Underground, Tom Wait, and CAN. The group consists of Edmund Kenny on vocals/electronics, pianist Harvey Grant, and Lawrence Howarth on guitar.
The band got together in 2016 by producer and songwriter Edmund Kenny while he was studying at Goldsmiths, University of London. He asked his roommates to join him and the rest is history. Their music although hard to pigeonhole into one genre is a mix of several genres. Since they also spent a lot of time at the clubs their mix is psychedelia with electronica, funk, jazz, and more. Their shows are hypnotic and all you can do is just groove to the sounds. They made their debut in 2017 with the album, Late Sun and have released several EPs since including Closer with its title track being my favorite. Also, check out the song “Night Bell”, from their album Light, West. I love the guitar sound and its monotone vocals that can relax and lull me to sleep. They just released their latest EP, Violet Drive, and are already on tour. They will play at the Bowery Ballroom here in NYC on April 22nd. Check out this talented electronic alternative trio and support indie music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
