Singer-songwriter Kate Fagan is wondering if she is cool. If you are being produced by the legendary reggae singer-songwriter Peter Tosh, then I say she’s cool. Kate Fagan who is the founder and front-woman for the SKA band Heavy Manners has been making a name for herself for the past several years. She didn’t start out playing or singing SKA music it was punk-rock music in the 80s.
She moved to Chicago from New York after working for a magazine. She use to hang out at the famous CBGB’s club but became disheartened when the disco/velvet rope thing started happening. She went to Chicago to visit and never left. She met her band members there and formed the group, Heavy Manners, they played with legendary bands such as The English Beat, The Clash, The Ramones, Third World, and Peter Tosh. Now in 2023, she has remastered her album, I Don’t Want To Be Too Cool sounds just as good today as it did back then. The album will be released on February 24th and an unreleased new single is out, Say It. Check out this talented singer-songwriter and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
