It's so refreshing to hear new sounds from up-and-coming artists. Zoi Harris from Chicago who is professionally known as Jean Deaux is an artist to watch. I love that she does not stick to just one genre of music.

She has been singing for years and has been featured with other artists such as Saba, Mick Jenkins, and more. Her music is a mix of soul, R&B, and hip-hop, she is also a rapper. She says she took her stage name from a line in one of rapper Rick Ross’s songs, “that’s John Doe.”  When she made her album debut in 2021 with the album Most Wanted, indie magazine Pitchfork gave her rave reviews.

She says hip-hop, R&B singer-songwriter, and producer Missy Elliot is one of her musical influences. Jean Deaux has released a couple of singles and a couple of albums.
