Singer-songwriter Jason Mist caught my attention with his new single, “Ups and Downs.”This New Caledonia artist mixes music from his heritage from India and Australia. He plays the slide guitar and his songs are heartfelt and talk about situations around him. Check out his song “Our Temple” and you can hear that emotion in his voice.

His songs not only speak about love but also inspire and talk about resistance to the status quo. He made his debut in 2012 with his EP Bhasha and has released several EPs and singles since then. His music is a mix of folk, roots music, blues, and reggae. My favorite songs are “Rise” and “Remedy” which are so infectious I can’t stop listening to them. He just released his new single “Ups and Downs” from his new album Balance and I hope he comes to the States for some shows.
