I love great lyrics and great songwriting and Gabrielle Aplin nails both. Hailing from Wiltshire, England, she earned an early following by posting acoustic music covers on YouTube. Later, she released a cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's, "The Power of Love" which went to the top of the British Singles Chart. 

Her influences are Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, and that's evident in her songwriting. Her 2013 debut, English Rain, was well-received by critics. At one point she was signed to major label Parlophone Records but has since started her own label, Never Fade Records. She has released two more albums, and her latest, Phosphorescent, came out last week.
