Brigitte Calls Me Baby

TWOFER TUESDAY

June 11, 2024

Chicago band Brigitte Calls Me Baby reminds me of some New Wave bands from the 80s but with a modern twist. At times I hear The Smiths or even The Cure. I love their retro sound.

The band members are singer-songwriter Wes Leavins, Trevor Lynch on guitar, Jack Fleugel on guitar, Devin Wessels on bass, and Jeremy Benshish on drums. Their lead singer says he loved Roy Orbison and The Cars music while in school. Those influences can be heard in his singing style. Their story is a typical one, Wes Leavins says he auditioned for a Broadway show and was hired to play Elvis Presley. Talk about fate calling for you. He then returned to Chicago and met his band members who loved the same type of music. The band will release their debut album, The Future Is Our Way Out on August 2nd and I can’t wait for a tour. Support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
