The Mary Onettes

The Indie rock/dream pop band, The Mary Onettes are taking the world by storm.

The band from Jönköping, Sweden has been together since 2000 and their interest in 80's music is what bonded them. The band consists of lead singer/guitar, Philip Ekström, his brother Henrik Ekström on bass, Petter Agurén on guitar, and Simon Frasson on drums.

The band is melodic and has its distinct style which they have been working on for several years. They made their debut in 2004 when they were signed to a label but unfortunately, it was not

released the band was dropped. This didn't discourage them and they pressed on and were signed later that year to Columbia/Sony and released their debut EP, Make Me Last. After that EP they decided to press on without a record label. It didn't take too long before they signed with the indie record label, Labrador Records. In 2006 they released their EP Lost and started getting noticed with critics mentioning their sound had elements of Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure, and others. Ironic enough those were some of the bands they listened to since they love the 80s and 90s music. In their ups and downs in this industry, they built their own recording studio and that's kept them sane. A couple of their songs were featured on the tv show, Grey's Anatomy, check out

the song Explosions and Lost. The band released several more albums through the years and each one tells a different story. They just released their new EP, What I Feel In Some Places, and I'm sure will tour soon. Check out this talented band and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
