Surprise Chef

Purveyors of what they call “Cinematic Funk,” the four members of Surprise Chef hail from the Melbourne, Australia suburb of Coburg. Moody, funky and jazzy, the music does seem to lend itself to a filmic experience as well. Comprised of Lachlan Stuckey, Andrew Congues, Jethro Curtin, Carl Lindeberg recorded its 2019 debut, All News is Good News, in the quartet’s home studio setup.

Exclaim! lauded the group’s DIY efforts; “Surprise Chef have delivered a fantastic album demonstrating not only their musicianship and compositional skills, but also what a scrappy collective can achieve.”
