Mammal Hands

Mammal Hands from Norwich, U.K. has been making great jazz music since 2012. Their mixture of jazz intertwined with trip-hop, crossover, and avant-garde create an eclectic mix that grooves. The trio consists of Jordan Smart on saxophone, Nick Smart on piano, and Jesse Barrett on drums/tabla.

Their love of electronic music, classical along with world music and folk music all blend into complex sounds which is music to your ears. Each member contributes equally to the writing process and each creates a dynamic where each one is heard individually without solos. Their influences range from legendary jazz saxophonist, Pharoah Sanders to Terry Riley and Gétachèw Mekurya. If you catch them live then you will be entranced by their hypnotic sound. They were discovered by the jazz group, GoGo Penguins when their bass player told Matthew Halsall who is the founder of Gondwana Records about them. They made their debut in 2014 with the album, Animalia and have released 3 more albums. This past August they released their fourth album, Oni/Lantern, and like their previous releases, it features some amazing music. Check out this super-talented trio and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
