This singer-songwriter has a smooth voice and the music is soothing and at times seductive. Jonah Yano was born in Hiroshima, Japan, and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. When he was six years old his grandmother introduced him to the piano and later learned how to play guitar. Since then he has been writing his own music and has moved to Toronto. His music is a mix of smooth jazzy soul-pop with a sprinkle of some hip-hop elements and electronica. In 2016 he started writing and recording songs on his phone and by 2018 had his first recorded appearance.
Jonah Yano says his musical influences are Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Feist. Last year he released his debut album, Nervous, and has received a lot of attention from such music magazines as Fader and Billboard. Jonah just released his latest album, Souvenir.
