The Zutons formed in Liverpool 20 years ago, but they took a very long break. Releasing three albums in succession over four years, the group splintered in 2009. Founding member Dave McCabe reformed the band during the pandemic. They played a few gigs and supported Nile Rodgers on one of his UK gigs. No doubt Rodgers was an inspiration for the 70s vibe on the group’s fourth record (he appears on the track, “Disappear“). The Big Decider is energetic indie rock with great grooves and different moods, a record that Clash argues is “authentic, uplifting and instantly enriching…absolutely worth the wait.”
