NEW MUSIC MONDAY
by Kristine England
Monday, April 1, 2024
If you’re looking for a real country music album and not some over-hyped dalliance from a pop star, look no further. The Secret Sisters, siblings Laura Rogers and Lydia Slagle from Alabama, make folky, “cosmic country,” that is grounded in the human experience. On the sisters’ fifth album, Mind, Man, Medicine, the duo has taken the reins on production for the first time, collaborating with John Paul White (who lends his acoustic guitar) and Ben Tanner (also on keyboards and vibraphone). Singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne guests on the track, “All the Ways.”
