The earliest incarnation of Chicago’s Axis: Sova was just guitarist-vocalist Brett Sova accompanied by a drum machine. The solo project expanded, with additional members coming and going until Jeremy Freeze joined on bass for the release of Shampoo You in 2018. He stuck around for Blinded by Oblivion, and Josh Johannpeter coming on to play drums. Like a fuzzy, psych-garage rock reincarnation of Sweet, the trio’s latest is a sonic celebration.
