Slowly Rolling Camera

THE JAZZ CAFE

June 25, 2023

I’m digging this jazz group's name, Slowly Rolling Camera from Cardiff, Wales. Their music mixes jazz with trip-hop and has won rave reviews since their formation in 2013. The band consists of Dave Stapleton who is their composer and keyboardist, Elliot Bennet on percussion, and Deri Roberts who produces their records.

Dave Stapleton is also the founder of their record label, Edition Records. They say their influences are The Cinematic Orchestra, Portishead, and more. Their self-titled debut album in 2014 was produced by Massive Attack and Portishead producer, Andy Alan. Check out their songs “Eight Days” with its soaring trumpet solo from their 2018 album Juniper, and “The Afternoon of Human Life” from the album Where The Streets Lead. A song you must check out with its complex soundscapes.

They are not afraid to think outside the box with their music and are always trying new things. They have just released a new single, called “Flow” from the forthcoming album of the same name to be released on August 11th. Check out this amazing jazz trio and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
