I love this jazz group from Brazil. As our first Jazz Cafe feature the new album Cometa put a smile on my face and pep in my step. Meet singer-songwriter Luciana Souza and her Trio Corrente. Luciana Souza started performing at the age of 3 with a radio commercial that started her career, no surprise since music runs in her family. Both her parents are singers and the music of bossa nova was played at home.
Her dad is a singer and songwriter and her mom a lyricist and poet was supportive of her career. She came to the U.S. attended Berklee College of Music and graduated with a bachelor’s in Jazz Composition. Since then she has released several recordings starting in 2002. She has been nominated for several Grammy’s and has performed with the best in jazz. She just released her latest album, Cometa with her jazz trio Corrente and I can’t get enough of this record. Listen to the songs, “Vento Do Norte” with its great piano playing and samba rhythm, and “Bem Que Te Avisei” which I love. Check out this amazing talent and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
