THE JAZZ CAFE

by Rosie G.

February 11, 2024

This jazz pianist is the son of well-known pianist José Privat from the Carribean group Malavoi. Grégory Privat was destined to be a piano player because of his dad. He started playing from a young age and started lessons by age six. He studied classical music for over a decade before switching to jazz.

He later moved to Paris, France, and started playing around the club circuit and playing with other jazz musicians. He decided to enter the Montreaux Jazz Festival’s piano competition and did very well. In 2011 he released his first album, Ki Koté to critical acclaim, and his career was launched. He wanted to have artistic freedom and expression and launched his record label, Buddham Jazz. He has recorded several albums and just released his latest, Phoenix a week ago. Check out the songs,” Le Marchand De Sable” and “Pousiè Zétwal.”You will be swept away by the piano playing. He is now on tour throughout Europe and we can’t wait for some dates here in the U.S. Support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
