When I first heard of jazz pianist Eyolf Dale I had to listen to his album. The album,
The Wayfarers released late last month captured my attention with its beautiful arrangements and compositions. I was floored and have had that album on repeat. Born in Norway he started playing piano by age 6 and later took formal lessons. He studied jazz performance and improvisation at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
He made his debut in 2009 with the album Seagull Island with well-known Norwegian jazz tenor saxophonist, André Roligheten. He has recorded several albums both as a leader and co-leader. He has won many awards for the European competition Nomme Jazz for pianists in 2009. He has also been nominated twice for the Spellmannprisen in jazz which is their version of the Grammys. He is a well-known pianist and composer on the European jazz scene and the live performances sell out whether it's a club or concert hall. He just released his latest album, The Wayfarers, and the single of the same name at the end of January. He is on tour throughout Europe and we hope he comes to the States for some dates. Check out this talented jazz pianist and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
