THE JAZZ CAFE

by Rosie G.

July 16, 2023

Jazz saxophonist and composer Christine Jensen can never stay still in one place musically. She conducts her jazz orchestra and feels at home whether solo or with a band. She is a rising star on the jazz scene and one to watch.

She is making herself internationally known in Montreal, Canada, and critics are raving about her. She studied jazz performance at McGill University and then moved to Montreal where she is now based. She made her debut in 2000 with the album Collage and has released several more. Last year she released her album Treelines which featured her sister Ingrid Jensen a renowned jazz trumpeter in her own right. Listen to the song “Habitat” with its rich horn section and haunting piano sounds.

She just released her new album Day Moon which she wrote about her experience during the pandemic. Its bluesy jazz tunes have me over the moon and it's on my playlist. She is now on tour and be sure to check her out live. Check out this super-talented saxophonist/composer/conductor and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
