Anat Fort Trio

THE JAZZ CAFE

by Rosie G.

April 2, 2023

Israeli jazz pianist and composer, Anat Fort started studying the piano at age 5. She has always had a fascination with improvisation which led her to study jazz in her later years. This jazz artist is classically trained and mixes jazz with classical elements from a middle eastern background. She can move effortlessly between all those musical backgrounds.

She attended William Patterson University in New Jersey to study jazz and composition and later moved to New York to pursue her career more seriously. She made her debut in 1999 with her self-produced album, Peel. In 2007 she released her 2nd album A Long Story and has since then been touring with her trio which includes, Gary Wang on bass and Roland Schneider on drums. She just released her new double album, The Berlin Sessions with new compositions and some 80’s pop tunes covers. I’m sure she will be on tour and can’t wait for shows here in NYC. Check out this super-talented jazz pianist and composer and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
